Looking for something fun and meaningful to do with your kids?

SHELTER DOGS NEED A BREAK TOO!

Tuesdays, come check out a dog from 12-3pm for an outing. Maybe the park, ice cream, or even just an afternoon in your home. Call or text Patti at 580 641-0667 to reserve a dog. We can help you with ideas for your outing. Shelter life wears a dog down, and field trips give them a good way to blow off some energy or get some much needed relaxation. Plus, who doesn’t want some doggie smooches? It’s meaningful for a shelter to have this type of program, because these are adoptable animals, and visitors and volunteers can help the dogs get exercise and develop socialization skills. The shelter provides everything you need for a doggie day date, including an “Adopt Me” vest and leash so everyone will know the dog is adoptable. Guidelines:
Participant must be at least 18 years old
Dogs must be in an enclosed vehicle (no riding in an open convertible or in the open bed of a truck)
Dogs must be on leash at all times.

This program allows our adult dogs to enjoy a day outside of the shelter. These outings help them manage kennel stress, burn off energy, increase visibly for the pups and encourage members of the public, who normally wouldn’t have time to volunteer, to engage with SCHS. At the end of the day, we ask that you please send us photos and share information to help us find this dog a new family. Photos can be sent via text to (580)641-0667 or in a private message directly to our Facebook page.
