Mission Statement: The Friends of The Humane Society are a group of volunteers who are dedicated to raising funds to support projects and aid in veterinary care at the Stephens County Humane Society. Additionally, we work diligently to encourage pet owners to spay or neuter their pets. All money raised is in direct support of the Shelter, the Shelter animals and the very popular and successful Spay/Neuter program (described below).
SPAY/NEUTER DISCOUNT CERTIFICATE PROGRAM : The Coupon Program to assist Stephens County pet owners with spay/neuter expense was introduced in 2008. As of 30 June 2010, the Friends have redeemed 743 coupons at a cost of over $18,500.00.
Any Stephens County pet owner may go to the Humane Society Office and request a $25.00 certificate. This certificate is then presented to the owner's veterinarian of choice. (Nearly all of our area veterinarians honor these coupons.) The coupons work just like any other coupon - the $25.00 is deducted from the owner's statement; and then the veterinarian turns in the coupon to us for reimbursement.
